Our Physical Therapy Aide course is an introductory course designed to act as a starting point for students interested in pursuing a career in physical therapy as an aide, assistant, or therapist. Upon successful completion of this course, students will be qualified to compete for a Physical Therapy Aide position and have fundamental knowledge to further their course of study in college in the field of Physical Therapy.

A. The human skeleton and major muscles of the body
B. Diseases and disorders of bones and joints
C. Practicing good body alignment and movement
D. Using physical therapy to treat burns and amputations, common medical and genitourinary disorders
E. Asepsis and infection control and safety in the workplaceSection 4: Patient Preparation and Physical Therapy Modalities
A. Preparation for patient care
B. Body mechanics, verbal commands and transporting and positioning techniques
C. Standing, sitting, bathtub, draw sheet, pneumatic lift, and floor to wheelchair transfers
D. Assisting with ambulation and gait training
E. Therapeutic and Range-of-motion exercises
F. Physical therapy agents and modalities
G. Heat therapies and cold therapies
H. Specialized clinical procedures for amputees

Thank you for your interest in enrolling in the SoCal ROC Physical Therapy Aide course.
In order to enroll in the program, students must:
High school
- Open to Grade Levels 9-12th
Successful completion of Algebra I
Adult
- Purchase of the textbook is optional and purchasing information will be given at the first class meeting
- Copies of the textbooks are available for classroom use
Complete in 1 Semester: Monday - Thursday from 4:15pm - 7:00pm (HYBRID)
Our Physical Therapy Aide course is typically offered in the Spring and alternates with our Kinesiology/Sports Medicine which is offered in the Fall.
