As a physical therapy aide you can help make the therapy sessions more productive while under the direct supervision of a physical therapist or physical therapist assistant. This course covers the basic skills and fundamentals necessary to ensure that the facility runs smoothly. Aides assist in the transport of patients, organize and maintain treatment areas, and prepare for each patient’s therapy session. Additional duties include clerical tasks such as, scheduling appointments, answering the phone, filling out insurance forms, and collecting co-payments. Furthermore, the physical therapy aide course covers topics such as, medical terminology, infection control, Universal/Standard Precautions, vital signs, medical law and ethics, general anatomy and physiology and body mechanics.
