Accelerate Your Future at SoCal ROC!

This course offers students the opportunity to refine skills necessary to work in the pet grooming industry.  Students will continue studies and practice performing animal grooming duties such as washing, brushing, clipping, and trimming coats, cutting nails, and cleaning ears. Students will learn advanced grooming techniques to meet AKC Standards.

Learn Valuable Industry Skills!

Students will learn to perform animal grooming duties such as washing and brushing animals. Students will have basic understanding of clipping coats, cutting nails, and cleaning ears. They will learn how to collect and record animal information such as weight, size, physical condition, treatments received.

Students will learn strategies in working with various breeds of cats and dogs, as well as animals with behavioral problems.

Students will learn safety concerns and the importance of proper sanitation, as well as recognizing signs of illness, injury, parasite-infestation.

Students will train in aspects of serving the public such as responding to questions from clients, providing information about animals (behavior, nutrition, health-concerns) and the facility, answering telephones and general customer service.

Designations offered to students completing the Advanced Pet Health and Grooming course include

- A Certificate of Competency displaying advanced industry knowledge of pet grooming

In order to enroll in the program, students must:

High school 

  •  Must pass the Pet Health and Grooming class or have demonstrated similar experience
  •  Open to Grade Levels 9-12th

Adult

 Must pass the Pet Health and Grooming class or have demonstrated similar experience

 Purchase of apparel and materials. Please contact registration for full list.

Complete in 1 Semester: M/W from 7:00pm - 9:45pm
