Director of Programs & Student Support Services

Under the supervision of the Superintendent, the Director of Programs & Student Support Services is responsible for all areas addressing the needs of SoCal ROC students, high school and adult students, including but not limited to developing courses, coordinating student registration procedures for Center classes, performing certificated and classified evaluations, working with Curriculum and Instruction Leaders, other duties as assigned.

SoCal ROC is seeking a Director of Programs/Student Support Services who has high professional and personal standards, has a vision for the future, and demonstrates it through his/her leadership. This individual will inspire, lead, guide, and direct all members of the instructional team in achieving the highest standards of excellence, so that every student may be provided with a meaningful and rewarding education.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provides leadership, administration, and supervision and evaluation of certificated and classified staff, of the Career Center and assigned Sectors, which includes, but is not limited to: curriculum, instruction, staff development, guidance services and student support, evaluation of programs, program research and development, and coordinating programs and services for Externship programs. 

  • Provides vision and leadership to the total educational program in response to the changing demands of the workplace and the central role of employment preparation programs in providing a successful transition to careers and to lifelong learning. 

  • Develops and recommends policies and procedures pertaining to areas of responsibility for the Superintendent’s review, and upon adoption by the Board of Education, ensures that all policies and procedures are followed. 

  • Keeps current in curriculum theories and instructional practice and provides overall leadership in new curriculum development, works collaboratively with the management team and instructional staff to determine educational objectives for the Center, and to plan, implement, and evaluate curriculum and instructional programs. 

  • Provides leadership and administration for maintaining legal compliances, obtaining required waivers, licenses or other contracts, reviewing all instructional programs, monitoring legal status of all programs, and preparing reports required by federal, state, and local agencies. 

  • Assists with the budget development and long-range planning of the Center in cooperation with appropriate staff members. 

  • Ensures that business and industry representatives are consulted in the development of advisory committees for assistance in program development and program operations to meet labor market needs. • Serves as a member of the Administrative Cabinet and other committees as assigned and attends monthly board m
