Dr. Atlas Helaire has been in education since 1998. He began his teaching career in the Compton Unified School District as a 3rd grade elementary school teacher at the same school he attended as a child. Over a 10 year span, he taught grades 1st – 4th. He also served as a Resource Teacher before leaving Compton Unified School District. Dr. Helaire was hired in 2008 as the Director of Programs & Student Support Services at the Southern California Regional Occupational Center (SoCal ROC). He served in this capacity until 2015 when he was promoted to Executive Director. Dr. Helaire is currently serving as Assistant Superintendent.

Dr. Helaire earned a bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Chapman University in 1998. He studied at Argosy University where he earned a master’s degree in Educational Leadership. Finally, Dr. Helaire earned a doctorate in Educational Leadership, Administration, and Policy through Pepperdine University in 2014. He was born and raised in the City of Compton where he is now married and raising five daughters. He enjoys writing poetry and reading novels in his spare time.
