DENTAL ASSISTING FOR HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS

Function: Dental Assisting for High School Students.  Teach entry-level, extensive hands-on training in the unlicensed field of Dental Assisting.

Instruction to introduce students to Health and Safety Guidelines and Procedures, Dental Laws and Ethics, Dental Terminology, Anatomy and Physiology, Microbiology, Preventive Dentistry, and preparing materials for Chairside Procedures.

Dental Assisting Career Preparation for High School Students:  Instruction will continue with information on the following topics: Dental Radiology, Infectious Diseases, Chairside Dental Operatory Equipment, Amalgam and Composite Restorations. In addition, students who are at least 18 years old will receive instruction to complete the Dental radiology certification program. Upon completion of all the state dental radiology safety requirements, the student may obtain a Dental Radiation Safety Compliance Certificate. Upon successful completion of one-year program and graduating from high school, students will have the opportunity to complete a 120-hour externship in a Dental Office in the South Bay.
